Hilda Chronik

Mrs. Hilda Elizabeth Chronik of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Joseph Chronik, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Hilda was born on August 9, 1935, in Raymond, Alberta to Elizabeth and Joseph Trembecki. They moved to a farm in Picture Butte when she was 4 years old. From an early age, she was a hard worker and good help. She met her lifelong husband Joseph when he came to the farm to buy hay and she offered him a coffee. They married on April 5, 1951. They rented a farm from Uncle Alex and Hilda worked the sugar beet fields. Eventually they had 6 children. In 1959, they moved to Picture Butte, then to Lethbridge in 1967 where they remained. Hilda worked as a baker at St. Michael’s Hospital for 25 years and was known for her amazing cinnamon buns. She retired at 69. Hilda and Joe lived in Haig Tower for a few years, then moved to assisted living at St. Therese Villa.

Hilda is survived by her sister, Rose. She is also survived by her children Elizabeth, Shirley, John, Ruth, Susan; 9 grandchildren Charlotte, Tonya, Cassie, Crystal, Lisa, Jason, Tamara, Jasmine, and Brooklyn; and 11 great grandchildren.

Besides her beloved husband Joe, Hilda was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Joe; daughter Gail Chervinski; sister Anne; and brother Joseph.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Luke Watson, officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
