Hajime "Tom" Urano Obituary

This past year we have had the wonderful opportunity to spend many hours laughing, loving and caring for our dad, husband, brother, granddad, great granddad and dear friend.

On the evening of May 11, 2023; at the age of 77; we said a final goodbye to Hajime (Tom) Urano, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love from his younger sisters Jean Menard, Martha Ipema and children Neil Urano and Michelle Urano.  He had a tough year battling illnesses brought on from diabetes and cancer, although his fight was fierce in his final days, he was at peace with saying goodbye.

He leaves behind his four children from his first wife Barbara Blanchette; Chuck (Deborah) Urano and their children Brett (Samantha) Urano, Stephanie (Paul) Bienz , Kaitlynn (Ethen) Lofthouse, and Mark Urano,  Neil Urano and his sons Ashton Urano and Tristan Urano, Michelle (Ian Rigby) Urano,  her three children Todd (Virginia) Campbell, Jessica Campbell and Benjamin Campbell. Scott (Alisha) Urano and their sons Tobin (Jessica) Urano, and Connor Urano, and his wife Ta Thurg Tang and her daughter Ha. He was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren.

Tom was born in Coaldale Alberta then grew up in Barnwell. He spent much of his life farming with his father and two brothers Hink and Taz. He was very active in the community with the Elks, Curling, Golf, Fishing, Bowling and sports with his children. He enjoyed a very active social life with friends at Bully's, Poker night at the casino and traveling the world where he met many of his very dear friends. Tom had a passion for traveling and did as much as he could in retirement.

We will be Celebrating his Life on June 5, 2023, at 3:30 pm in the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens Reception to follow in the Bunka Centre.
