Edward "Ed" Barendregt Obituary

“I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind.

Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

With great sadness, the family of Edward George Barendregt announces his passing on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the age of 68.

Ed leaves behind his two sons Nathan (Jessica) Barendregt, Tanner (Courtney) Barendregt, loving companion Bev Chrupka, brothers Rene Barendregt and Leon (Shari) Barendregt, sisters Marianne (Hank) Vanee, Gerda Van Sluys, Mother-in-law Joyce Rollingson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan Barendregt (2013), infant son Leeson Barendregt (1985), parents Casey and Ali Barendregt, and brother-in-law John Van Sluys.

Ed was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on September 21, 1952. He grew up in Picture Butte among his many friends and acquaintances. He spent many years farming alongside his brother Leon and continued to put those skills to use, most recently working with Research Crop Specialties throughout Southern Alberta.

Ed will be fondly remembered as a loving father, companion, and mentor to his two boys.

He loved to travel, going on many trips throughout the years resulting in countless stories that he loved to share. Ed enjoyed being in his yard, keeping it in beautiful condition, and occasionally even turning it into “Camp Nowhere” on May long weekend.

Ed was no stranger to trials and difficulty throughout his life. In spite of this, he remained the positive and resilient man that we knew and loved, leaning on his faith and trust in God to see him through. He will be greatly missed.

A private family Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. The family invites those who wish to watch the service via livestream at www.mbfunerals.com and scrolling to the bottom of Ed’s obituary.

Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
