Obituary

Mr. Dennis John Beasley of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the age of 80 years. Dennis is survived by his wife Val Mikado-Beasley and mini schnauzer Missy, as well as a large extended family. He leaves behind a legacy of adventure, camaraderie, and a passion for the great outdoors.

Dennis was drawn to the serenity of lakes and rivers, developing a profound love for fishing. Lake Helena, Old Man River at his Summer Cottage, the breathtaking beauty of the Crowsnest Pass, and Williams Lake area were some of his favorite fishing spots. He was not alone in his pursuit of the perfect catch; his brother, Ron Beasley, was his steadfast fishing companion on many memorable expeditions. Dennis was not just a fisherman; he was a steward of nature. His dedication to preserving the environment led him to become an active member of the Crowsnest Pass Quad Squad. He played a pivotal role in constructing bridges for the trails in the Pass, ensuring that others could enjoy the wonders of this pristine wilderness. His commitment to conservation was matched only by his love for adventure.

Those who knew Dennis couldn't help but be enchanted by his zest for life. His sense of humor was as sharp as his fishing skills. When Val would jest, "They're probably fishing," a friend would quip, "Val, get real; they're out there drinking, but their lines might be in the water!" This good-natured banter was a testament to Dennis's ability to light up any gathering with his infectious laughter and unwavering positivity.

Dennis's love for the great outdoors extended far beyond fishing. He was a dedicated scout leader, instilling values of leadership and resilience in countless young minds. He reveled in the thrill of quadding through rugged terrain, and his passion for tinkering with small engines and garden tractors was boundless. As a member of the Prairie Tractor Club and Engine Museum, he found joy in preserving the mechanical history of our region.

Dennis Beasley was a man who embraced life with open arms, whose spirit was as untamed as the wilderness he cherished. His love for nature, his dedication to community, and his unwavering sense of humor endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love for the great outdoors. Though he has embarked on his final adventure, his spirit will forever live on in the laughter, camaraderie, and the echo of fishing lines casting into pristine waters.
