With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Alisha Maree Schmidt of Calgary, Alberta on July 10, 2021. She slipped away from us in her sleep at the age of 33 years.
Alisha was born March 12, 1988 in Lethbridge Alberta and spent her childhood growing up in the Crowsnest Pass. She was full of life and enjoyed her younger years horseback riding, swimming at Big Rock, camping, jumping on the trampoline with neighborhood kids, babysitting and attending Crow Summer Camp. Alisha was a natural animal lover and had worked alongside her Dad at an animal rescue. She nurtured and cared for lonely and broken animals until they were strong enough to find their forever homes. In 2017 at the age of 29 years old Alisha was ready to spread her love and light and enrolled in the Addictions and Community Services Program in Calgary, Alberta. Alisha was driven and motivated to make a positive impact in this world and after graduation she had found her passion as a Support Worker to some of downtown Calgary’s most vulnerable men. Her co-workers and client’s will remember her as a vibrant, energetic, caring person who had a way of making things happen for people. On Sunday’s Alisha would cook a meal for the ‘guys’ filling their bellies with food and laughter. She was known by them as the Cooking Queen. It is at this job that she met her partner Sean Woods, they began to build a life together full of love, laughter, and happy times. She spent her best and final years watching Dominic and Teigan enjoy the life she worked so hard to create with their favorite time being spent swimming at McKenzie Lake. Her contagious smile, unfiltered laugh, and precious memories will never fade from our hearts. Her love for life and unwavering resilience will live on through her children Dominic and Teigan.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her beloved children Dominic and Teigan; her partner Sean Woods; parents Lawrence Schmidt of Pincher Creek and Julie MacPherson of Lethbridge; her paternal grandparents Bernard and Geraldine Schmidt of Pincher Creek; her sisters Ashlee Schmidt (Logan) and Baylee Schmidt (Shane); her brother Jordan MacPherson (Veronica); niece Atlee and newborn nephew Kash; best friend Ashley Doell and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Ron & Margaret Jackson, her stepfather Al Friesen and Dominic’s Dad Mitch LaPlante.
