William Merrill

WILLIAM GORDON MERRILL of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Joan Elizabeth Merrill, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the age of 77 years.

William or Gordon as he liked to be referred to, served as a peacekeeper with the Canadian army in 1955 to 1961 where upon his Honorable discharge he received the United Nations Emergency Force Medal in the Middle East where he was serving.

Upon his return home he met his wife Joan and they were married sometime later. They resided for some time in St. Stephen and then moved to Southern Ontario to raise their four children and after sometime they moved to Alberta until their deaths. Gordon loved to fish and travel which is why he chose truck driving as a long term career.

Gord will be sadly missed by his children and grandchildren and will remain in our hearts.

William is survived by his 3 daughters Crystle of Edmonton, Cindy, Roxanne and step daughter Sherrie; 2 sons Jamie of Lethbridge and step son Francis of St. Stephen, NB; grandchildren William James, Sable and many more; sister Ruth Merrill of St. Stephen, NB.

Besides his loving wife Joan, William was predeceased by his parents Karl and Gertrude Merrill.

Cremation will be as per his request with a memorial in St. Stephen, N.B., at a later date.
