MR. WILLIAM ""BILL"" JAMES BALFOUR of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth ""Betty"" Balfour, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2008 at the age of 91 years.
Bill was born on July 10, 1917 in Mossbank, SK where he was raised and educated. He joined the RCAF and served during WWII and was discharged in 1945. Bill farmed at Mossbank for several years and married Betty McCarthy on November 17, 1962 in Regina and together moved to Lethbridge in 1972. Bill worked for the Corp of Commissioners and Lethbridge Lodge Hotel, retiring in 1986. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, General Stewart Branch #4 and the Masonic Lodge in Mossbank, SK.
Bill is survived by his son Jamie (Penny) Balfour of Lethbridge; 3 grandchildren Cassandra, Treyvis and Branton; sister Bessie ""Bea"" Sandbank of Moose Jaw, SK; step-brothers Ted Humphrey, Ernie Humphrey; step-sister-in-law Vi Humphrey all of Moose Jaw, SK; as well as close cousin Garth Balfour. Bill was predeceased by his wife Betty as well as numerous brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 19, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Canon James Robinson, officiating.
