Wayne Tillotson

We are very sad to announce that Wayne lost his year-long battle with cancer on September 11, 2009. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Rosemarie Gattiker, his sons Cory (Kristy and son Marko) and Scott (Tammi), and his stepdaughter Melanie. Wayne was the youngest of seven, with Clayton, Don, Irvin, Sharon and their families also mourning his loss. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine, his brother Vint and his father, mother and stepfather.

Born in Lethbridge on August 20, 1946, Wayne worked many years as a tinsmith before becoming a safety codes officer for the City of Lethbridge. Following early retirement, he started a highly successful handyman business and did major home renovations. His passions included classic cars, motorcycles, archery, fishing and camping. He travelled extensively in the western U.S., Europe and Mexico. Every summer, he drove over the Logan Pass. For the past three seasons, he enjoyed snowbirding at Shangri-La RV Resort in Yuma, Arizona.

Always a very healthy man, his cancer was an ugly surprise to us all. Yet he fought it, kept his sense of humour and never complained. Our deepest thanks go out to his doctors, the staff at the Lethbridge Cancer Centre, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the CRH Palliative Care Team, all of whom treated him and his family with great kindness, care and concern.

Wayne did not want a funeral. Instead, he asked that family and friends should gather to tell stories and share memories of their encounters with him over the years. Please join us for refreshments at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB, 1405 - 8th Ave N, Lethbridge. We ask that you come dressed casually, prepared to have a good time reminiscing and raising a glass in his honour.
