Ben Walter

1960 ~ 2015

Walter, Benjamin - It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Benjamin Walter at the age of 55 years. He was the beloved husband of Matilda (Hofer) Walter and father of Amanda, Justin, Anne Marie, Carol, Heidi, Tamra and Tanya.

Ben was born in Cardston, AB on March 7, 1960, and in 1972 he moved to Turin, AB. He married the love of his life, Matilda, of Walsh, AB on November 6, 1988. For the past 18 months, Ben and his family resided at Deep Creek Farms, Athabasca, AB. He told family and friends alike that he was ""Living his Dream.""

Ben was a lifelong cattleman and served his community as fieldboss for many years. He also enjoyed various other occupations. God was with him and blessed every step he took.

To all who knew him, Ben is remembered as a devoted servant and builder of the community. He had a deep faith and profound love for his God, who carried him through countless struggles. Ben valued honesty and hard work. He was generous and kind to his fellow man, making friends wherever he went.

Ben is survived by his mother, Annie Walter of Turin, AB; his two sisters, Bertha (Henry) Walter of Lomond, and Esther (Joe) Hofer of Walsh, AB; his three brothers, George Walter, Eli (Susanna) Walter, and Sam (Rosanna) Walter, all of Turin, AB; his mother-in-law Susanna Hofer of Walsh, AB, several brothers-and-sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Eli Walter and his father-in-law, Joseph Hofer.

Ben thought the world of his family and all could see that his seven children were truly the light of his life. We could always count on him for guidance and unconditional love.

While we cannot begin to understand our dear Lord's will, we will trust in Him and hold fast to him in prayer. Knowing that God directs our steps and guides our paths gives us comfort, as we submit to God's ultimate will. The resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comforts us in his victory over death.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the HUTTERIAN BRETHREN CHURCH OF TURIN.
