Vince Bobinec

MR. VINCENT BOBINEC, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Anna Bobinec, passed away on March 29, 2009 at the age of 89 years.

Vince was born to Mary and John Bobinec on June 8, 1919 in the Galt Hospital. He was the youngest of four boys, Vince began school in Hardieville and later attended Readymade school.

Vince farmed with his mother near Readymade and later with his father in law Nick Lastuka near Stirling. He married Ann Lastuka who was the love of his life, in November of 1943. They had two children Judith (Herb) Pidhirney and Douglas (Joanne). Vince and Ann moved to the Wrentham area in 1944 living in the ""house on the hill"" between the pidgins and the skunks. They finished the new house in 1954.

Vince loved to farm but he also loved his sports. His first love was baseball and his pitching and hitting abilities were remembered by many. His next love was curling where he was successful in many bonspiels. At 55 Vince began to play golf. Here again he did it well. He added lots of trophies to his large collection and at one time played to a very low handicap. Vince played league in the evenings, senior tournaments during the week and mens open tournaments on the weekends. In between all of this he liked to fish and hunt birds. Vince was a willing mentor to anyone wanting to learn. Vince and Anna spent many winters in Arizona enjoying the warm weather. Vince worked hard but was a fun kind of guy.

Vince loved his grandkids and his great-grandson brought a smile to his face when not many things would. He is missed deeply.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00PM, on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM, on Friday, April 3, 2009, at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB.
