Zsolt Varga

Official Obituary of

10/9/1973 - to - 27/4/2020

“Come to me….I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Zsolt Varga, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, coworker and friend.

Zsolt Varga of Coaldale, beloved and dear husband of Patty, and father to Jenna and Brendan, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at the age of 46 years.

Besides his loving wife Patty, Zsolt is survived by daughter Jenna and son Brendan; mother Magda Varga; sister Maggie (Gord) Curran and their children Shaun, Ryan (Crystal), Craig and Kayla (Colby); great-niece Chelsea; father and mother-in-law Menzo and Brenda Vander Deen; sister-in-law Gwen (Joel) Paschke and their children Natalia and Anneka; sister-in-law Nicole (Russell) Kiefuik; brother-in-law Mike Vander Deen, as well as many co-workers and friends. He will be remembered and missed dearly by all who knew him.

Zsolt was predeceased by his father George Varga.

It is difficult to put a man like Zsolt into so few words. He was larger than life, with a strong personality and an unforgettable sense of humour. His laugh was boisterous and his presence would fill the room. He took great pride in his family, his heritage, his roots from growing up on the “north side,” his occupation and his beliefs.

Zsolt had extensive knowledge that spanned many subjects, from history and mechanics, to music and science. He was always eager to share his knowledge and would speak at length about any topic. He was a great conversationalist and could chat easily with anyone he met. He was also passionate about hockey, whether playing shinny with his friends or watching his “Habs” on TV.

While keeping himself busy with his various projects, he also enjoyed the peace and quiet that came with fishing. He went as often as he was able, and even if he didn’t catch anything it offered him solace from his busy life. He and Patty had many camping and fishing adventures together.

Zsolt was a talented musician who had the ability to pick up many instruments and play them with ease. He always enjoyed live music and any opportunity to play with other musicians. He especially enjoyed playing with his worship teams at church.

Zsolt had a career in EMS that spanned 20 years. He was always willing to be a mentor and preceptor and took on many students. He was a strong patient advocate and believed in encouraging his colleagues throughout the profession.

He was a loving, wonderful husband and companion. He and Patty were soulmates and were always by each other’s side. He was a patient and fun-loving father who would drop anything to be with or help his family. In leaving us he has left an immense void. He will be dearly missed by his whole family, coworkers, neighbours and friends.

Fare thee well Love– until we meet again.

Due to the restrictions in place for COVID-19, a private memorial, by invite only will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, September 14, 2020.
