Vandenberg

MRS. HENDRIKA VANDENBERG of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Gerrit Vandenberg, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the age of 92 years.

Hendrika is survived by her sons Bert Vandenberg and John (Elva) Vandenberg; grandchildren Brian (Jen), Bruce (Erin), Kevin and Scott (Laurie); 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Jansje and Alida both of Holland and Ada of Lethbridge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her beloved husband Gerrit, Hendrika was predeceased by her infant daughter Marian, parents Jan and Maartje Vandenheuvel; sisters Geertje, Ali, Maartje, and brother Christiaan and Henk.

Hendrika was born on January 15, 1916 in Nijkerk, Holland. She was raised and educated in Barneveld, Holland. She met and later married Gerrit Vandenberg on February 8, 1936. In 1937 they had a son Bert followed by a daughter Marian who passed away in infancy in 1942 and the had another son John in 1943. Together they immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Iron Springs, later moving to Thorhild in 1962. Gerrit passed away in 1964 and Hendrika later moved to Edmonton and Calgary and finally settling back in Lethbridge until her passing. Hendrika had a passion for gardening she also had a great love for her family and dear friends.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
