AUGUST 27, 1929 - NOVEMBER 27, 2008

Arnold Umeris of Lethbridge, AB, beloved husband of Alma Umeris, passed away at St. Michael's Palliative Care after a short and courageous battle with cancer, with family by his side on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the age of 79 years.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife Alma, daughter Gwen Umeris, son Ed (Corinna) Umeris and their children Isabella and Ethan. He is also survived by his sister Wanda Paskuski, and her children Gary (Lori) Paskuski, Gail (Larry) Gibb, and Karen (Blair) Nyrose; his brother Fred (Gail) Umeris and their children Sherri (Paul) Bohnert, Cam (Elaine) Umeris and Darren (Samia) Umeris; his brother Hardy (Donna) Umeris and their children Clarke and Steven; his sister-in-law Olga (Henry) Rallion and their children Wendy and Nancy. Arnold was predeceased by his parents Martha and John Umeris, one sister, and by his brother-in-law George Paskuski.

Arnold was born on August 27, 1929 in Lithuania. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1948. His first year was spent in Milk River working on the construction of Ellison's Elevator. He then moved to Lethbridge and began his job at Ellison's Milling, where he remained working as a Miller for 45 years.

His family and his farm were his life. He was a devoted husband, father and Grandpa. He enjoyed working with wood and many of his projects can be seen around his home. Arnold was a hard working and dedicated man who rarely took time off for himself. He was a gentle and caring man who was loved by all who knew him. Time spent with his family and grandchildren were precious and he will always be remembered for his gentleness, quiet humor and ready laughter.

Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00PM and 8:00PM, on Monday, December 1, 2008, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Kevin Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
