Tom McLean

It is with understanding but great sadness that we announce the passing of THOMAS ""TOM"" EDWARD McLEAN, beloved husband of Colleen on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Good Samaritans West Highland with his family at his side.

Tom was born on November 5, 1927 in Lethbridge and attended Galbraith School and Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. He was a talented athlete, excelling in hockey and playing for Lethbridge Native Sons, Nanaimo Clippers, New York Rovers and the Atlantic City Sea Gulls. He also played baseball and coached the Lethbridge Junior North Stars Fastball Team which was inducted into the Provincial and Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame. Tom was an avid golfer and a member of the Henderson Lake Golf Club where he enjoyed golfing with family and friends for many years. His work career spanned 40 years with Canadian Western Natural Gas, beginning in 1951 as a labourer and progressing to Supervisor of Operations.

He will be remembered for his ""Paul Neuman"" eyes, his wonderful smile, his love of life and family and friends. He was a very caring and loving man who was always there for anyone in time of need. ""Uncle T"" as he was known to all the kids, had a real connection with children and they were all drawn to him.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Colleen; daughter Carole (Alf) Heggedal; son Brent (Dena) McLean, Colleen's children Dawna-Rae (Bruce) Court, Dianne (Jerry) LeGrandeur, Cheryl (Dave) Boyden, Barbara (Gordon) McIntosh; brother Don (Eleanor) McLean; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Nan McLean, brothers Jimmy and Douglas and grandson Trevor Heggedal.

A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Larry D. Hankinson officiating.
