MRS. STELLA LACEY of Picture Butte passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the age of 92 years.
Stella Lacey was born in Etzikom, AB on November 24, 1914 and became a resident of Picture Butte for most of her life. She worked or owned businesses in Picture Butte since the mid 1930's. Stella enjoyed working and continued in various positions until quite late in her life. Always adventurous, she applied for and received her first driver's license in her mid 70's.
Because of her thoughtful generosity and kindness to others she was awarded the 1998 Community Achievement Award by the Chamber of Commerce and in December 2002, the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. These two honours were the highlight of her life and she felt deeply touched by both. Stella will always be remembered for her thoughtful ways, her loving nature and her kind and generous heart.
Stella is survived by her sons Gordon (Lynne) of Bellevue, WA and Doug (Hamiron) of Kelowna, BC; grandsons Mitchell of Bellevue, WA, Justin of Kelowna, BC; great-grandchildren Carter and Emma of Bellevue, WA and brother Donald Foster of Richmond, BC; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her beloved husband Allen, Stella was predeceased by her parents Bert and Ethel Foster; sisters Pearl Harrowell, Viola Pierson and Gladys Benson; brothers Lyle and Walter N. Foster.
A Celebration of Life was held at 1:00PM on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the TRINITY UNITED CHURCH in Picture Butte with Pastor Glenda Wert, officiating. ""Friends are encouraged to speak and share their memories of Stella.""
