MRS. GLADYS SOICE of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Odber Soice, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the age of 104 years.

Gladys was born on March 14, 1907 in Pierson, Iowa to William and Emma Culler. She immigrated with her family in the old Mitchell car when she was 5 years old to the Powell district, east of Warner, where they farmed. She attended the Powell school up to Grade 8, she then took sewing lessons by correspondence while looking after her siblings. Later she went to Agriculture School in Raymond.

She married Odber Soice in July 1927. They set up farming west of Warner. Together with their two youngest children Odbar & Gladys moved to Lethbridge in 1948 and spent many winters in Arizona where they pursued their hobbies.

Gladys is survived by her four children Clayton (Marie) Soice, Delvoir (Ernest) Longair, LeRoy (Riny) Soice and Marjorie (Howard) Anderson; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 Great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her passion.

Besides her beloved husband Odber, Gladys was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, a sister, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson.

Gladys loved to entertain, spending many hours playing bridge with her friends. When she wasn't fishing, she was making crafts, bead work, quilting, knitting, crocheting, not stopping at one but making for the whole family. Her legacy will live on in her handiwork.

A Private Family Service will be held. Interment will take place in the Warner Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, Gladys requested that a kind deed be made to a stranger anonymously.
