Shirley Ellis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother and Grandma Shirley Ellen Ann Ellis, on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the age of 76 years.

Shirley was born on July 16, 1936 in Swift Current, SK where she was educated and completed a secretarial course. Shirley married Ray Ellis on October 26, 1957, then in 1969 with three children the family moved to Lethbridge where she resided until her passing. Shirley worked as a secretary and medical receptionist, as well as being a dedicated homemaker. ""Grandma"" loved and treasured the gift of caring for her grandchildren, Steven and Chelsea.

Shirley was a hard worker, full of courage and perseverance, yet loving, generous, and kind-hearted. She always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, baking, camping, and tending to her garden, especially admiring the roses, peonies and watching the trees grow that were planted from seedlings by Steven and Chelsea.

For many years Shirley has suffered from many health issues. All the while she always gave everything of herself and put everyone else first. She was so kind and beautiful inside and out and she will be dearly missed.

Shirley is survived by daughters Brenda (Sarah) & Sandra (Terry), son Barry (Tammy), grandchildren Steven (Debbie) & Chelsea, numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and her very special furry friend Kitty Kisses.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Ray, parents Annie and George Polivka, and relatives Earl (Isabelle) Ellis, Joe Polivka, Norman (Geraldine) Ellis, & Bill (Mable) Garrett.

May you find peace and joy in the loving arms of your husband Ray (our Dad), your Mother and Father, and all the loved ones who have passed before you.

Treasured memories of ""Mom"" and ""Grandma"" will live in our hearts forever. ""There's no greater gift than a Mother's love.""

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 1:00 pm and 1:45 pm followed by Funeral Service at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Ruth Preston Schilk officiating.
