Olga Serfas

Official Obituary of

5/3/1922 - to - 6/12/2009

MRS. OLGA BETTCHER (Serfas) passed away peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father, with her family by her side at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the age of 87 years.

Olga was born in Germany on March 5, 1922. She was an only child to parents Reinhold and Emma Grunwald. Olga enjoyed her childhood years. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and modeled her faith all her life. After finishing school she graduated from Agriculture College with her diploma. In 1949 Olga immigrated to Canada with her cousin, and her parents followed, in search of a better life. They landed in Nova Scotia and from there settled in Swan River, Manitoba. That year she married her love Theodore ""Tedo"" Bettcher, who immigrated from Germany earlier. They settled in Southern Alberta, and began farming and raising their family.

Olga loved being a homemaker and caring for Tedo and their children. Family was important to Olga, and she always loved it when her family was together. She had the gift of hospitality. Relatives and friends were always welcomed at their home. She loved her garden and her flower beds. She loved the farm animals. She loved the farm life and assisted in any way she could. Her real passion in life was people. She loved attending her church and worshipping God. She enjoyed visiting with friends and sharing stories, especially about her precious grandchildren, the ""joys of her life"" who she always prayed for.

Olga and Tedo retired to Lethbridge in 1985. After Tedo's passing in 1988, Olga drew on the strength of God, her family and friends. In 1990, she married Adam Serfas. Olga moved to the Garden View Lodge in December of 2001. She again loved the opportunity of making new friends, and the fellowship that followed. Olga never missed an opportunity to share her faith with anyone who would listen.

Olga will be sadly missed by her family and friends. We have lost an angel from amongst us.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the PARK MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH, 2011 15 Avenue North, Lethbridge, with Pastor Barry Seifert, officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church, prior to the service.

Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.

Service Date: December 11, 2009
