It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Arthur Thurlow, who passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 41.
Scott (also known as Scotty, Swilly, Uncle 'Cotty,' and Scooter) was a devoted father, beloved brother, cherished friend, and valued colleague. Above all else, he was a family man who loved his three daughters, Shayla, Madyson, and Kenzley, more than anything in the world. His family grounded him and was at the heart of who he was.
Scott was an exceptionally hard worker, generous, and someone who took pride in providing for the people he loved. He also found great joy in the simple things that brought family and friends together. He loved cooking for his family and was especially passionate about smoking meat. Sharing good food, a good laugh, and time together were some of the ways Scott showed his love. He was also known for being a fan of pedicures and very interesting pho combinations. Scott, you can keep the tendon and tripe to yourself.
An adventurer at heart, Scott loved riding his motorcycle and taking long trips across the provinces. He loved the freedom of the open road and the places it took him. He was happiest near the ocean, where he could fish, crab, enjoy seafood, and simply spend time surrounded by the water. He also enjoyed a round of golf and watching (or more like falling asleep to) baseball.
Scott will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his love of family, his adventurous spirit, and the many moments of laughter, food, stories, and togetherness he shared with those around him. His presence touched the lives of his family, friends, and colleagues, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Scott is survived by his three beloved daughters, Shayla, Madyson, and Kenzley; his bonus daughter, Jordynn; and his father, Keith, who was not just his dad but his favorite partner in every backyard project and the best man to share a cold drink with. He is also survived by Mamma Ketel, an impressive lineup of siblings, a small army of nieces and nephews, as well as a beautiful, wide circle of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
He leaves behind a deeply valued community of work colleagues who became a true second family through the long hours and the lively, daily humor they shared. Their bond extended well beyond the workplace, cemented over shared meals and the occasional liquid team-building session after clocking out. While there are far too many special people in his life to name individually, Scott’s warmth and love touched each and every one of them, and they will carry his memory forward in their hearts.
He was predeceased by his best friend and mother of his children, Ashley, and by his father, Ralph, a man who took Scott in as his own and raised an admirable man.
Scott’s life was far too short, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with those who knew him. His daughters will carry his love with them always, and his memory will live on in the stories shared, the meals enjoyed, the roads travelled, and the countless moments that made him who he was.
Rest easy, Scott. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
