Rylan Gordon Hudson of Lethbridge, beloved son of Reed and Amanda, little brother of Connor, and loving cousin to Violet, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 20 years. Rylan is survived by many other loving family members who will carry his memory with them always.

Rylan was a curious, gentle, and deeply thoughtful soul from the very beginning. As a

little boy, he was sweet, fun-loving, and endlessly inquisitive — always exploring, always learning, and always finding ways to bring laughter into the lives of those around him. His sense of humor stayed with him throughout his life, along with a warmth that could be felt instantly through his beautiful smile, his unique laugh, and his towering presence.

He had a way of connecting with people that was uniquely his own. His mom will always remember his bright smile and dimples, their long and meaningful talks, his great hugs, and the quiet comfort of simply being together. Rylan saw the world differently — with a constant curiosity and a deep appreciation for its beauty and wonder.

Rylan had a remarkable mind and a passion for learning. From a young age, he was drawn to literature and philosophy, reading thinkers like Plato and Socrates while still in his early teens. He loved to share what he was learning, often speaking thoughtfully about the ideas and subjects that captured his interest with anyone who would take the time to listen. Through his passion for writing, reading, and photography, Rylan was pursuing postsecondary education with the goal of building a future in photojournalism—a path that reflected both his curiosity about the world and his desire to understand and capture it. Then share it with others through his own lens.

Music was one of Rylan’s greatest passions. He had a deep love for all things musical and was a talented guitarist, playing both classical and electric. Though he occasionally performed, including with the University of Lethbridge music arts group, he most often played for himself—expressing something personal and meaningful through his music. He had a natural gift, once quietly teaching himself to play Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano to perfection, a moment that spoke to both his talent and his quiet nature.

Rylan also found peace and connection in the outdoors. He loved photography, nature, and animals, often spending time on the farm with the cats and dogs, where he felt most at ease. Growing up, he spent many weekends camping and exploring, especially with his big brother Connor—experiences that became some of his most cherished memories.

Rylan’s life, though far too short, was filled with depth, intelligence, creativity, and love. He had a special way of seeing the world and all its wonders — a perspective that had a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel for invited family and friends.
