Rose Toews

MRS. ROSA ""ROSE"" LOUISE TOEWS (nee deVeer) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the age of 88 years.

Rose is lovingly remembered by her son Jack (Madelyn); grandchildren Colleen (Eugene) Foisy and Steven (Stephanie) Toews; great-grandson Kyle Foisy; sisters Martha, Eva, Helen and Dora (Ted); sister-in-law Mabel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her husband Glen, daughter Peggy, grandson Kevin Toews, sister Agnes and two brothers Dan deVeer and Ted deVeer.

Rose was born in Sunnyslope, AB on January 30, 1919 to John and Elizabeth deVeer. As a young woman, she worked for many families in the Linden and Acme area. She then worked at the TB clinic and later at the Children's Hospital both in Calgary. She met her future husband Glen at Radium Hot Springs and they married in 1948 in Vulcan, AB. They moved to Purple Springs in 1948 where Glen was an agent for the Alberta Wheat Pool. In 1963, they moved to Ensign, Alberta and remained there until 1967. After her husband passed on, Rose visited and lived with many families and worked in many places until she found some stability in Kelowna. Rose took a cooking course in Kelowna and worked in several places leading up to the Matsqui Manor in Abbottsford where she worked until retiring. She enjoyed her stay in Abbottsford near siblings, nieces and nephews. In 1992, Rose moved to Lethbridge where she met many friends and enjoyed the friendships at the Lethbridge Seniors Center while continuing to live on her own. Last summer her health started to fail and she moved to Medicine Hat in the fall to be closer to her immediate family. She will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00PM and 9:00PM on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St. South, Lethbridge, AB.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, April 2, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVEIW CHAPEL, with Pastor Lloyd Kohl, officiating. Interment to follow in Archmount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 9Z9 or to a charity of one's choice.
