ROSA M. ROBINSON

1925 ~ 2016

Rosa M. Robinson, of Lethbridge, (formerly of Calgary) beloved wife of the late Laurence (Larry) Robinson, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Good Samaritans, Park Meadows, Lethbridge, at the age of 91.

Rosa was born in Belgium on February 18, 1925, the only child of parents Alexis Louis Roels and Joanna Camilla September Roels. She was a war bride who met her future husband, a Canadian soldier, at a dance in Belgium. They were married in Belgium in 1946, and moved to Canada shortly thereafter. Larry’s service with the Canadian Army took them to Edmonton, Lahr (West Germany) and Calgary. Rosa worked in the Calgary office of Canada Packers for many years. Rosa and Larry were deeply devoted to each other, and sadly, Larry died in 1981 after 35 years of marriage. Rosa stayed active in the community as the volunteer manager of the Rockyview Hospital gift shop and as an active member of the Elderhostel organization. Rosa had a warm circle of friends, loved to garden and loved dogs, especially her beloved ‘Scruffy’.

In recent years, Rosa was a resident of Good Samaritans Linden View, Taber and Good Samaritans Park Meadows, Lethbridge. She inspired affection from all who knew her and lived out her last years with grace and courage.

Rosa is survived by her nephews Greg (Christine) Robinson of North Saanich, B.C., Len (Simone) Robinson of Lethbridge, AB and James (Judith) Robinson of Lethbridge, AB and their families.

Rosa’s family wish to express their appreciation for the outstanding and loving care Rosa received from the staff in both Good Samaritan facilities.

In accordance with Rosa’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In memory of Rosa and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
