Robert Harris

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and friend, ROBERT NOEL HARRIS of Coaldale, AB. Robert passed away Sunday July 25th after a long and courageous battle with cancer at St. Michaels Palliative Care.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Darrel (Elaine) Harris, Donna (Rick) Lussier, Heather (Gord) McDowall, and grandchildren; Eric and Greg Horvath, Nicole and Brittany Lussier. He is also survived by his brother Cale (Jean) Harris, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sharing the last 17 years of his life was his dear friend Joanne Miller, and her daughters Vicki Miller and Julie (Daryl) White, grandchildren Shaylee and Sherri who became his extended family.

Robert was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Mildred, his parents Arthur and Dorthea, and many other family members.

Robert was born on the family farm on June 19, 1934 where he continued to grow up and eventually took over the farming when his mother and father retired to Lethbridge. Robert farmed until the mid 80's and then moved into Coaldale where he remained until his passing. For the past 13 years, Robert was employed with Hayshed Trailers and recently retired in December 2009. He had a love for gardening and flowers and spent many hours in his backyard nurturing his passion. Robert was also lucky enough to travel and enjoy many wonderful places throughout the last few years. Robert had a very kind heart and family and friends were most important to him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 4717-24 Avenue South, Lethbridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Cancer Clinic, 960-19 Street South, Lethbridge AB T1J 1W5.

The family would like to thank Dr. Benke and all the wonderful caregivers at the Cancer Clinic and at St. Michaels' Palliative Care.
