Robert Ascroft

MR. ROBERT ""BOB"" ASCROFT of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Joan Ascroft, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, October 29, 2010 at the age of 74 years.

Bob was born October 10, 1936 in Lethbridge. He graduated high school at LCI. He then spent his career of 35 years working for AGT/TELUS.

Bob married the love of his life, Joan, in 1964 and over the next 46 years they developed a love for camping, traveling (Hawaii, Mexico, cruises), golfing and spending time with friends and family. Bob was a dedicated family man, always putting the needs of his children and grandchildren ahead of his own. He also had a special spot in his heart for all animals, especially the family pets. Bob joined the Lethbridge Gyro Club in 1987 where he served 2 terms as club president.

Bob is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Stacey (Brett) Durand, son Tom and his granddaughters (the lights of his life) Sydney, Hunter and Greer, his brother Tom (Margaret) Ascroft of Calgary as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families and his ""best friend"" Charlie.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Tom and Helen Ascroft, mother and father-in-law Robert and Olive Hanley, sister-in-law Elaine Lawson and brother-in-law Murphy Lawson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.
