MR. RAY MATTHEW CLIFTON, beloved husband of Ruby Clifton of Shaughnessy, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2009 at the age of 63 years.
Ray was born on March 14, 1946 in Newcastle Upon-Tyne, England. Ray, his mother and sister came to Canada on the Aquitania in October of 1946 at which time they were reunited with Ray's father in Magrath, Alberta where he lived for the next 17 years. His first job was at the Alberta Canning Company in Magrath. He married Ruby Forsyth, and in 1974 they moved to Shaughnessy, where they have resided ever since. Ray enjoyed collecting stamps, hunting with his father-in-law and fishing. Ray was a loyal member of AA for the last 25 years.
Besides his loving wife Ruby, Ray is survived by his mother Catherine Clifton and a much loved mother-in-law Violet Forsyth; 6 daughters Debbie (Ramy), Dawn (Simon), Cathy (Glen), Tammy (Sean), Margret (Rick), Amber (Jeremy); 2 sons Danny (Sandy), Michael; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy (Bob) Etter; 3 brothers Rob (Val), Allen, Chris (Carol); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Ray was predeceased by his father Bert Harding Clifton; sons; Raymond Douglas, Bert Cameron; father-in-law Ralph Forsyth and three brothers-in-law; Casey Winning, Dale Forsyth and Robert Forsyth.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday May 23, 2009, at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS PARK LAKE WARD, 404 Willow Avenue, Picture Butte, Alberta with Bishop Michael Oliver officiating. Friends may meet the family from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the service.
