It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Armida Pavan of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Saverio Pavan. She passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the age of 84 years.
Armida was born September 1, 1926 in Camino al Tagliamento, Udine, Italy to Caterina and Luigi De Giusti. Times were difficult growing up in Italy and in 1949 Armida and a good friend moved to Manchester, England to work in a textile factory where she stayed until 1954 then moving back to Italy. A mutual friend informed Saverio of a pretty young woman looking for a new opportunity and encouraged him to write to Armida. After many letters, pictures were exchanged and Armida agreed to come to Canada to meet Saverio. She arrived in Lethbridge on March 12, 1955 and after a brief courtship married Saverio on April 2, 1955. They resided on the Pavan Dairy Farm until 1974. Her family then moved into Lethbridge. Armida worked at various jobs throughout her life finally retiring from a custodial position at Catholic Central High School in 1988.
Armida was a gracious, caring wife, mother, Nonna and friend. She was a woman with a big heart who loved her garden and flowers but most of all loved her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she looked forward to cooking them meals or going to their sporting and school events. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Romulus and Remus Italian Canadian Club.

She was predeceased by her parents and three sisters. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years Saverio, son Livio (Diana) and three grandchildren Andria (Derek) Meers, Jordan and Alyssa.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00pm, on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am, on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the ST. BASIL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 - 13 Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Father Tim Boyle, celebrant. Interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery.
