Patricia “Pat” or “Patti” Mackintosh passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at South Country Village in Medicine Hat, AB, after being released from the long embrace of dementia. She will be remembered for the vibrant life she lived, the challenges she faced with resilience, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
Pat was born on March 13, 1940, in Calgary, AB, and was raised in Granum, AB. She was a loyal friend who stayed in touch with her classmates into her eighties. A dedicated professional, Pat enjoyed a successful 30+ year career working for ATB Financial, serving communities in Granum, Fort Macleod, and Lethbridge, AB.
Pat’s life was defined by her perseverance and strength. As a proud breast cancer survivor, she carried her determination onto the water as a member of the Abreast of Bridge Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team. Through paddling, she developed deep friendships, a fierce sense of teamwork, and cherished memories. For the past ten years, Pat faced the progressive challenges of dementia. True to her character, she met this difficult journey with strength, humour, and just a bit of trademark spice.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa (Troy Wason); her son, Rob; her brother, Howard Jacques; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a large, loving extended family. Pat was predeceased by her husband, Doug Mackintosh (2011); her parents, Helen (1981) and Ted (1982) Jacques; her older brother, Ron Jacques (2001); parents-in-law, Emmaline (1943), Jack (1982), and Johanna (2021) Mackintosh; and sisters-in-law, Katheline Caswell (2024) and Marlene Jacques (2026).
The family extends their deepest gratitude for the care Pat received during her time at Meadow Ridge Senior's Village and gives a special note of thanks to the wonderful nurses and HCAs at Sunnyview, South Country Village, for their compassion, care, and dedication.
Her memory will live on through the stories shared, the moments treasured, and the lasting place she holds in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In memory of Pat’s strength and resilience, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to causes close to her heart. Contributions can be made to dementia research via the CLEAR Foundation (clearalzheimers.ca) or to breast cancer research via the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH - 10827 24 ST SW, Calgary, Alberta, with Father David Meadows presiding.
