PATRICIA “PAT” HUGHES

1926 ~ 2017

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Hughes of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Maldwyn “Mallie” Hughes, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the age of 91 years.

Patricia was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a child she enjoyed singing, acting and speed skating. After her marriage she moved with her husband, Mallie, to Lethbridge in 1948. There she raised 4 daughters, Leslie, Sheila, Mary and Carrie.

Pat enjoyed golfing, sewing, knitting and keeping up with her 4 daughters. She liked reading and attending concerts. After her daughters left home, she enjoyed traveling with the Lethbridge Oldtimers Hockey Team. She visited Kimberley in the summers where she loved the company of her grandchildren. She traveled abroad with her daughters and their families. At the age of 91 she flew to New York to attend her first granddaughter’s graduation ceremony.

Pat is survived by her 4 daughters, Leslie (Arden) Grant, Sheila Hughes, Mary Hughes and Carrie (Jeff) Riddle; 5 grandchildren, Ben (Amber) Grant, David (Alex) Grant, Emily, Sarah and Evan Riddle and many nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her husband Mallie Hughes in 1995.

She was a gentle, kind and generous person who will be cherished.

A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.

A Private family graveside service will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery.
