It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Otto Riedlhuber announces his passing on August 16, 2026, at the age of 90 years.
Otto is survived by Wanda, his beloved wife and devoted companion of nearly 70 years; his sons, Dan Riedlhuber and Jim (Connie-Marie) Riedlhuber; his grandsons Travis (Charli) Riedlhuber, Adam (Jazmine) Riedlhuber and Jesse Riedlhuber (Nicole); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Molly, Henry and Stella.
Otto was born on March 2, 1936, in Inzersdorf, Austria. He was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent over 40 years working with Canada Packers and then continued working at the Lethbridge Airport. His long working life reflected his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to providing for the family he loved so dearly.
Ottos’s three greatest loves were his wife and family, golf, and creating oil paintings. He treasured his life with Wanda and loved to travel with her to see her family in Ontario, fly to Las Vegas and spend hours with friends in Mexico. As his grandchildren grew older, you couldn’t keep him out of the hockey rink, volleyball court, basketball court, or baseball diamond cheering his grandsons on.
For Otto, golf was much more than a pastime; it was his passion. He was an accomplished golfer who recorded an extraordinary seven holes in one and earned the title of Senior Club Champion at Henderson Lake Golf Club, of which he was a long-standing member for 50 years. Otto’s love for the game brought him countless hours of enjoyment and many treasured friendships and memories.
Otto was also a talented and masterful oil painter who enjoyed bringing incredible landscapes to life on canvas. His paintings will remain cherished reminders of his creativity, patience and appreciation for beauty.
Those who knew Otto were also no stranger to his incredible sense of humor, quick wit, and playful spirit. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man of great strength and integrity. His paintings, his stories, his humor, and his remarkable golf achievements will continue to be treasured.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
We express our gratitude for his special care to the incredible, loving staff at St. Therese Villa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, with Deacon Jim Manzara officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Therese Villa or the Alzheimer’s Society, Lethbridge.
