MR. ARVID SYDNEY OSEEN of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Ruby Ann (Jones) Oseen, passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Extendicare on Wednesday April 28, 2010 at the age of 100 years.

Arvid was born on October 6, 1909 in Sundial, Alberta, and it was there that he received his education. He married Ruby Ann Jones on September 4, 1933, in Lethbridge and together they farmed in the Sundial area until retiring to Lethbridge in 1958. Although they left the farm their hearts were still in it, returning many times to help with harvest. In 1996 they moved to the Garden View Lodge. Arvid and Ruby were married for 71 years when Ruby passed away in 2004. Arvid continued to reside in Lethbridge until his passing. He was a life member to the Vasa Lodge in Lethbridge, and he was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing as well as coaching baseball teams in Sundial for many years. Arvid also enjoyed bowling, curling hockey and golf, and was considered the sports expert at Extendicare. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the local hockey teams.

Arvid will be sadly missed by his sons Roy (Shirley) Oseen of Lethbridge, Bryan (Louise) Oseen of Lethbridge; sisters Gertrude Howg of Taber; brother, Chester (Hilda) Oseen of Lethbridge; grandchildren Terry (Russ) Oseen, Lana (Chris) Oseen, Jay Oseen, Kirk Oseen, Scott (Brenda) Oseen, Todd Oseen; great-grandchildren Jonathan, Jillian, Jesse, Amy, Brett, Kristen, Liam, Caitlyn, and Hannah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his loving wife Ruby, Arvid was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Alfred and Elmer Oseen; sister Alice Griffen; as well as several brothers in-law and sisters in-law.

A Memorial Reception for Arvid and Ruby will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the LETHBRIDGE LODGE HOTEL, Anton's Room, 320 Scenic Dr., S., Lethbridge, Alberta.
