MR. NORMAN THOMAS SKEITH of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Jean Skeith married for 60 years, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the age of 82 years.
Norman was born in Lethbridge on June 17, 1925 at the Van Haarlem Hospital. In his childhood years he grew up in New Dayton and was active with basketball. At age 18 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, returning to Lethbridge to make it his home. He worked with the City of Lethbridge in the Parks and Recreation Department from February 1969 to July 1985 until retirement. Norman was a familiar face driving the zamboni, sharpening skates or maintaining local swimming pools. During his 22 years of retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife Jean, but also enjoyed being at home with his family. He was an active member of the LSCO and made many new friends playing badminton, shuffle board and over the last few years he grew fond of playing pool. Norman was in love with his yard and evergreen trees because they never let him down. Norman was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 34 years. He had a love for nature, sports, music, dancing and family.
Besides his loving wife Jean, Norman is survived by his daughter Jody (Curtis) Stuckert of Lethbridge; sons Terry (Delmarie) Skeith of Lethbridge and Tom (Rita) Skeith of Calgary; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Ethel Boynton Spooner and Thomas Edward Skeith; brothers Robert, Donald and Lloyd; sister Lorraine Ross and daughter Jennifer Chartrand.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, November 9, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge with Reverend Sarah Wallace officiating. Inurnment to follow in the Archmount Cemetery.
