Norman Shannon

1947 ~ 2007

NORM SHANNON, cherished husband, father, brother and friend, passed away on July 8, 2007 at the age of 60 at Rosedale Hospice in Calgary with his wife and daughter by his side. Norm left this world peacefully, with the same quiet strength and dignity with which he lived his life.

Norm will be remembered always by his loving wife of 34 years, Terry; his daughter Erynn (Szab Hajdu) of Toronto; his brother Doug (Joan) of Calgary and Terry's parents William and Katherine Gross of Lethbridge. Norm was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Bert of Medicine Hat.

Norm worked for 33 years at the Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada Research Centre in Lethbridge, served on the Board of Directors of Inter-City Gas for 15 years, and was a partner, alongside his brother Doug, in a family owned technology company. Always a man of integrity, his ability to listen with empathy and quietly provide down to earth and practical advice, made him a valued colleague and friend.

Norm was a gentle man with a wit and dry humour that endeared him to many. He lived life to the fullest, whether it be traveling the world with friends, or just enjoying life's simple pleasures - a hike in the mountains, a badminton game, a cup of coffee over the Globe and Mail and above all, quiet times with his wife and daughter whom he loved more than anything.

Norm, you have been our rock - our love, our hearts, our spirits go with you on your journey.

To all the staff and volunteers at Rosedale Hospice - words can never express our gratitude. The compassionate care and support shown to all of us during Norm's final weeks is something that will be treasured forever.
A celebration of Norm's life will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, July 13, 2007 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.
