NORMAN (DARBO) WHITNEY DANGERFIELD, of Lethbridge, formerly of Vauxhall, passed away on Monday, December 27th, 2010, at the age of 90 years.

Norman was born September 24th, 1920 on the Dangerfield homestead at Miners Coulee, in the shadow of the Sweet Grass Hills, the tenth child and youngest son of Alice and James Dangerfield. He attended Grain school, leaving after grade ten to help on the family farm. He married Daisy Stevenson on November 3, 1941 and they lived on the family farm until purchasing their own land in 1947. In 1952 they sold the Aden farm and moved to the Retlaw District where they lived and farmed until health concerns saw them move to Lethbridge in 2002. After Daisy's passing, Norm continued to reside at Columbia Assisted Living in Lethbridge. Norman loved farming. He spent many hours riding the tractor and babysitting cows and calves. Family was important to him and he enjoyed the time spent with them. He found time to enjoy curling in the winter, to watch local baseball teams play in the summer and was a member of the local chapter of the Mason's.

Norman is survived by his children Jim (Pam), Gloria (Jim) Keim, and Steven (Judy); his grandchildren Coral Dangerfield, Neil (Reet) Dangerfield, Donna (Garth) Pickard, Marnie (Bill) Dangerfield, Jason (Lisa) Smith, Chris (Rebekah) Smith, Lisa (Lance) Howg, and Kurt Dangerfield and 11 great grandchildren.

His wife Daisy and all of his brothers and sisters predeceased him as well as a daughter-in-law Cheryl Dangerfield.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 3, 2011 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the VAUXHALL MENNONITE BRETHEREN CHURCH, Vauxhall, Alberta, with Reverend Alana Johnson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
