TRUDY NEWINGER of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Merv Newinger, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the age of 82 years.
Trudy was born and raised in Warner, Alberta. She passed away at the St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre with her family by her side.
Trudy was an active member of the Royal Purple, Royal Canadian Legion men's branch as well as the Royal Canadian Legion ladies auxiliary. In 1996 she was Legionnaire of the year. She was an active volunteer at the Legion, having been the bingo chair person, sports committee rep and she also volunteered until ill health forced her to slow down. She worked at the Royal Canadian Legion until her retirement and played crib and shuffleboard on a weekly basis. She bowled for many years and went to provincials for the RCL several times.
We best remember Mom for her joking ways and pranks which she maintained along with her humor right up to the end. Sunday dinners and apple pies (Mom made the best) will be greatly missed.
Trudy is survived by her daughters Pat LaValley, Deb (Tim) Coolidge; sons Merv (Sheila) Newinger, Ken (Joanne) Newinger; grandchildren Mona (Kurt) Johnson, Nicole (Ryan Phillips) Newinger, Michael (Nicole Tarbox) Coolidge, Ross Newinger, Stephanie Coolidge; sisters Rose (Lloyd), Cecilia Minion; great-grandchildren Riley Johnson, Tianna Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband Merv Newinger, Trudy was predeceased by her parents John and Freida Bachman; sisters Alice Colwill, Louise Christensen, Shirley Tudor, brothers-in-law Lee Minion, Evan Munro, Lewis Tudor, Bruce Colwill; as well as three nephews.
A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Brian Magee officiating. A Private Family interment will take place prior to the Celebration.
Mom enjoyed the beautiful flowers in her garden. Please wear something colorful to help us celebrate her life.
