MRS. CLAZINA ""NELLIE"" VISSER of Raymond, beloved wife of Mr. Rense Visser, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the age of 73 years.
Nellie was born on October 30, 1933 in Holland. She came to Canada in 1953 to begin a new life settling in Raymond, AB where she met and married the love of her life Rense, which she shared the next 53 years with. While raising their six children, Nellie and Rense remained in Raymond working at the Raymond Hospital, Raymond Motors and who could ever forget Nellie's cooking while she catered for the Raymond Lions Club.
Rense and Nellie moved out of Raymond to an acreage at Monarch for Nellie's passion of the outdoors. After 13 memorable years on the acreage and upon retirement of Rense, they decided to move back to Raymond. Although many changes occurred during their 13 years absence, it was still ""Home Sweet Home"". Nellie's passions in life included painting, gardening, her pets, spending time with her grandchildren and her children and ""Raising Hell"".
Nellie will always be lovingly remembered by anyone who came to know her. She always had an open door and a caring, loving heart.
Besides her loving husband Rense, Nellie is survived by her 3 daughters Lily Visser, Debbi Visser and Peggy (Rick) Steinson; 3 sons Robert Visser, Sidney Visser and Steven (Lisa) Visser; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Joanne Berlinghof and Betty (Gerry) VanGaal; 1 brother Hank (Angie) DeGroot; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Nellie was predeceased by her parents John and Betty DeGroot; sister Annie McDougall; brother Peter (Reik) and brother-in-law Bill Berlinghof.
A Celebration of her life will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Raymond Senior Centre, 55E 100N, Raymond, AB.
