Myrtle Bodie

MRS. MYRTLE BODIE of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. David Bodie, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the age of 91 years.

Born in Lethbridge June 9, 1920 in the Van Haarlem Hospital. She was raised by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. C.K. Engen in Sundial following the death of her mother. She was 2 months old at the time. Myrt attended the Sundial School. In 1941 she married Dave Bodie from Mossbank, Saskatchewan. They bought her grandparents farm and worked together until 1973 when they retired to Coaldale.

Myrt's hobbies included petit point, needle work and knitting. She also bowled for many years and was active in community affairs.

Myrt is survived by her sister Merlene (Tony) Wolters of Kelowna, BC; half sisters Maxine (Joe) Mehalko of Turin and Melva (Dennis) Cleland of Brooks; half brothers Howard (Louise) Dunn and Harold (Fay) Dunn all of Turin; sisters-in-law Phyllis Bodie of Regina, SK and Ethel Dunn of Vernon, BC; brother-in-law Lawrence (Ruth) Bodie of Carmangay; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Predeceased by her husband David Bodie in 1990; her mother Sophie (Engen) Dunn 1920; father Herbert Dunn 1959; twin sister Myrle (Jack) Furman; grandmother 1937; grandfather 1946; step mother 1988; a half brother Herbert 2000; and her aunt and uncle Dr. and Mrs. D. Woodcock in 1976.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, January 13, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Larry D. Hankinson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Coaldale and District Emergency Services, Box 1571, Coaldale, AB T1M 1N3 or to a charity of one's choice.
