MR. MURRAY LEWIS of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Stella, passed away on June 1, 2009 at the age of 88 years.

Murray was born when the crocus bloomed, on March 14, 1921 near Benton, Alberta.

Besides his wife Stella, Murray is survived by his sons Robert (Margo) Lewis, Garry (Connie) Lewis; daughters Marilyn (Barry) Fairlie and Karen Lewis; niece Bev Eaton and step-children James and Kendal (Kelly) Butler; 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters Alberta Matson, Dorothy Hamilton, Madeline Hooper; sisters-in-law Nellie Eaton, Lois Brunner; brothers-in-law Peter Adams, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara, in January, 1991; sisters Wilma Huffman, Norma Lowry; sisters-in-law Eva Wood and Margaret Adams; brothers-in-law Sherman Matson, Earl Hoffman, Don Hamilton, Ken Eaton, Robert Caswell, Nick Brunner and Frank Wood.

Murray was a man of many trades and talents. He wanted to be a farmer and like his father, Murray was an avid horseman throughout his life. He also enjoyed writing and had several short stories published. Murray retired from the Provincial Government in 1985 after implementing and operating their courier system in Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge.

Above all, Murray loved the company of his family and friends and enjoyed a full life.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, on Friday, June 5, 2009, at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined, for those who wish, memorial donations in Murray's honor may be made to a charity of one's choice.
