JOHN H.S. MOFFITT passed away in Lethbridge Monday, December 15, 2008 at the age of 92 years.

Jack was born in Auckland and raised in the community of Westmere. During the Second World War he trained as a flight instructor for the Royal New Zealand Air Force. In 1944 he was stationed in southern Alberta where he met and married Audrey Halliwell. After the War they moved to New Zealand for a brief time with their daughter Jacqueline, before returning to Fort Macleod where Kent was born.

After living in Vulcan for a few years they settled in BC where Jack was administrator at the Creston Valley Hospital. In 1986 Jack and Audrey retired to Lethbridge. Jack was an avid golfer, a skilled woodworker, and a darn good piano player. In later years he was happy to watch golf on TV and listen to his talking books. He was an amazing dad and granddad.

His daughter Jacki, granddaughter Deb (Al) Schmidt, and daughter-in-law JoAn live in Lethbridge. His grandsons Rob and Jason live in Vancouver, Shawn lives in Lacombe. His son-in-law Doug Gair lives in Creston. He has three great-grandchildren; Tannis, Kiara, and Jakob. Jack's son Kent passed away in 2002, followed by Audrey in 2005.

Jack's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Edith Cavell Care Centre for their warmth and consideration during the last few months. Memorial contributions can be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. A private service is planned for a later date.
