MRS. RUTH MIECHKOTA of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Steve Miechkota, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the age of 81 years.

Ruth was born in 1925 and raised in Diamond City. At the age of 5 she moved with her family to the river bottom and spent her childhood there. In 1941, at the age of 16, Ruth married Steve Miechkota in Lethbridge. Shortly after they established and ran the Fairview Nursery and Greenhouse for 40 years retiring in 1994. Ruth was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Legion, a walking group and Meals on Wheels. She loved dancing, music, reading and spending time with family and friends. She was a kind loving generous person and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Helen (Rudy) Ehlert of Crowsnest Pass; five grandchildren Jason Walker, Coreen (Doyle) Sam, Brett, Barry (Melissa) and Blair (Shelley) Ehlert; great-grandchildren Kaylen, Kelsey, Madeline, Ben and Cash; sister Mary Netherton of Ontario; brother Fred (Margaret) Lastuka of Lethbridge; as well as several nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her beloved husband Steve, Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Carol Popham.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, March 23, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St. South, Lethbridge, AB, with Reverend Larry D. Hankinson, officiating. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
