Michael Hirney

Mr. Michael Hirney of Taber, beloved husband of Mrs. Shonna Hirney, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at St. Michaels Palliative Care on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 49 years.

Besides his loving wife Shonna, Mike is survived by his daughters Brooklyn (Angelo), Alexis, Taylee and Jaysa; parents Gord and Sharon Hirney; mother-in-law Lorraine Kuehn; sister Kim (James); sister-in-law Paula (Stewart); sister-in-law Karie along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mike was born in British Columbia and grew up loving the outdoors, going on many hunting and fishing trips with his dad. He rode bulls as a young adult and worked on the rigs. He was known to his family and friends as witty with a good sense of humor; an excellent cook; and strong minded. In his last months Mike found joy in the little things, knitting scarves and toques for family members. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. Honoring Mike’s wishes, he will be privately remembered.
