Merle Atkinson

Merle Anne Atkinson, beloved wife of the late Robert Atkinson, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2014 at the age of 95 years.

Merle will be forever missed by her daughters, Sharon Van Wyck and Dianne (Merv) Haskell; her sons Garth Atkinson and Duane (Lynn) Atkinson, daughter-in-law Joan Atkinson; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Lorna and Wilda Murray and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her loving husband Robert, Merle was predeceased by her son Blair Atkinson, daughter Jolayne West; sons-in-law Pat McHugh and Ed Van Wyck; grandson Dean Haskell; her parents Ruth and George Foster, brothers Norman (Marjorie), Art (Alice), Gordon (Dorothy) and Alan (Jollie) Foster; and brothers-in-law Jim and Charles Murray.

Merle was born in Iron Springs on June 7, 1918. She lived most of her life in Alberta with the exception of a short period in Quebec. Family was of utmost importance to Merle; she was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. We will miss you.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 9:00pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY; a Memorial Service will follow at 1:00pm at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
