Matt Jakober

Passed away at home on May 23, 2007, Mr. MATT JAKOBER Sr. of Lethbridge, Alberta. Matt was born November 14, 1919 in Neudorf, Yugoslavia. He married Sophie Medel, also of Neudorf, on January 11, 1942. During the war, they relocated to Austria, where Elizabeth and Matt Jr. were born. The family immigrated to Canada in 1954, settling in the Turin area. Ken was born in 1956. In 1963, Matt and Sophie purchased a farm near Barrhill, where they resided until retiring to Lethbridge in 1985.

Matt is survived by his wife Sophie, daughter Liz (Carl) Johnson of Calgary, and their family: Ryan (Julie) and great granddaughter Leah, Cameron (Poppy) and great grandson Jacob, and Lana Johnson; and sons Matt (Kathy) Jakober and family: Kristen, Curtis and Jodi; and Ken (Katherine) Jakober and family: Paul, Robert and Lucas, all of Picture Butte; and by his sister Charlotte (Georg) Phillips, of Germany.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, June 1, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Jason Anderson, officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #207, 542 - 7 Street South, Lethbridge, AB or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 210D, 12 A St North Lethbridge, AB T1H 2J1.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel/Christ Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jason Anderson presiding.
