Mary VanderKooy

MARIA (RIE) ""MARY"" VAN DER KOOY of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Willem Van der Kooy, passed away at Good Samaritan's West Highlands on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the age of 92 years.

Mary was born to Peter and Bastijaanje Wamsteeker in the Netherlands, the oldest of 12 children. She married her husband Willem in 1942 and together had seven children. Wim and Rie immigrated to Langley, BC in late 1949 with her two oldest children. Wanting to live close to family, they left Langley and moved to the Iron Springs area, later to the High River area and then to the Lethbridge area. Faith, family and friends were her life.

Mary is survived by her daughters Ella (Jan - in memory) Sikkens, Jeannette (David) McDonald, Annelies (Ken) Bates; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the TRINITY REFORMED CHURCH, 1100 - 40 Ave North, Reverend Hank Vander Woerd officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
