Mary Simon

1925-2007

The family of MARY ELIZABETH SIMON is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their dear and beloved mother and grandmother on Monday July 9, 2007 at the age of 81. She passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital with her loved ones by her side.

She leaves behind her only daughter Mary Wademan and her grandchildren Corrine (Kevin) Ronan, Craig (Elizabeth) Wademan and Richard Wademan. Mary was predeceased by her late husband Andy Simon in 1985.

Mary was born on November 23, 1925 in Polgardi, Hungary where she was raised. She met the love of her life Andy in Germany at the end of World War II, and the two were married on January 11, 1945. Mary and her late husband Andy, along with their daughter Mary, arrived in Canada on June 4, 1951 from Germany. They quickly made Lethbridge their home. Mary and Andy were longtime and founding members of the Hungarian old timers club to which Mary over the years continued to volunteer countless hours of her time cooking and baking for the many events at the club. Mary will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her generosity, love of family and friends, and for her special talents of cooking, sewing and gardening.
Mary will be dearly and sadly missed by her family, whom she loved so much, and by her many close and longtime friends.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors in the ICU at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital for the special care, compassion and attention they gave Mary in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00PM and 8:00PM on Friday, July 13, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held for Mary at 10:30AM on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL. A private family interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery.
