Mary Palas

MARY PALAS of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Palas, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the age of 89 years.

Mary was born on December 16, 1919 in Liderovice, Czechoslovakia and moved to Barnwell as a young child. She married John Palas in 1938 and moved to their farm in Coaldale. She retired to Lethbridge in 1966. She was very passionate about her garden and flowers and loved to bake.

Mary is survived by her 3 daughters, Vilma Brost and her children Mike (Erica) and Lisa; Vera (Jack) Stacey and their children Christine (Blair) Harding, Shauna and Karen (Paul) Brown; and Emilie (Joe) Janos; as well as 4 great-grandchildren; and sister Lydia (Richard) Way of Carol City, Florida.

Besides her beloved husband John, Mary was predeceased by her parents Matthew and Frances Jurasek and brothers Anthony and Frank.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 23, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2M7.
