Mary Ferenz

MRS. MARY FERENZ of Lethbridge passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 96 years.

Mary is survived by her son Albert (Helen) and their children Dave (Pam) and their children Michael and Grace all of Ottawa; son Bryan of Vancouver; daughter Janet of Calgary and her children Devon of Lethbridge and Jennifer (Ryan) Kremenik and their children Kaytlin and Kenny of Lethbridge; son James Allan and his sons Nicholas and Mitchell of Lethbridge; as well as her brother Dr. Joseph Charyk (Edwina) of Florida, USA and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States and Canada.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Joseph, brothers Nick and his wife Mary Charyk, brother John Charyk, and sister Helen and her husband Allan Forrest.

Mary was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and moved to many places as her father John Charyk was a CPR Foreman. While residing in Lethbridge she met her husband Joseph at church where he was a choir director. They soon married and had many good years together until his death in 1977. She had clerked at Eaton Cash Office for over 20 years when she retired to be with her husband Joe.

Mary enjoyed her family and proudly knitted many blankets for them all. They were very treasured pieces. Her dinners at the Senior Lodge with friends were an enjoyed outing weekly where they ended playing bingo and she prided herself with her 50 cent wins!

A Family Mass was held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at St. Basil's Catholic Church, with Father Raul Hernandez celebrant.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kabilla and the staff of 4C at the Chinook Regional Hospital for their very kind and compassionate care. They went beyond their call of duty many times.
