Mary Batting

MARY BATTING of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Dr. William R Batting, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the age of 87 years.

Mary was a loving and caring mother and wife and will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Mary was born in Radville, SK on February 22, 1925 to Sarah and Joseph Van de Sype. She married the love of her life Bill and moved to Stettler, AB where Bill started his Optometry Practice. During their years together they enjoyed camping, golfing, curling, playing bridge, and numerous trips including Gyro Conventions with their buddies.

Besides her loving husband Bill, Mary is survived by her daughters Lorna (Ken) Bateman and Karen (Ralph) Svrcek/Smulders; her son Bob (Erin) Batting; her grandchildren Kristin (Cam), Jennifer (Shylo), Kelly, Steven, Kevin, Caitlin, and Connor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Sarah and Joseph, her daughter Brenda, and her sisters Helen and Margaret.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at OUR LADY OF ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Ave South, Lethbridge, with Father Kevin Tumback officiating. A private family interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery.
