With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marvel Louis McCloud (affectionately known as “Pops,” “Marvelous Marv,” “Grandpa Boss,” and “Pops the Manitoba Gretzky”) who left us on April 28, 2026, at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Marvel married the love of his life, Joanne, in Manitoba in 1975. Together, they shared 51 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Their marriage was a true example of enduring love and commitment.
Marvel found great joy spending time at ball diamonds and hockey rinks, proudly watching his children and grandchildren play the sports they loved. He could always be found cheering them on. He also had a deep passion for hunting and fishing, and eagerly shared his experiences and knowledge, which will be remembered for generations.
A very proud Métis, Marvel took great pride in educating his family about Métis history, culture, and the importance of heritage. He loved music and enjoyed playing cribbage, especially when it brought people together. Marvel will be remembered for his bright smile, contagious laughter, playful jokes and pranks, and the many nicknames he lovingly gave to those around him. He was a father figure to many and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Marvel leaves behind his children Mike (Shauna), Jamie (Maxine), Melissa, and Joey (Emily); his grandchildren Jared (Hayden), Kenzie (Collen), Riley, Avery, Ava, Xaviour, Amari, Riley, Sadie, Kash, and Nevaeh; and his great‑grandchildren Lux, Gia, Lennon, and Romee.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family, friends, and community, having touched the hearts of so many through his kindness, laughter, and love.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be shared when they become available.
