Mrs. Marjorie Girbav of Lethbridge passed away at St. Therese Villa on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 96 years.
Marjorie was born in Moose Jaw on December 16, 1929. She was the fourth of eight children born to Frank and Anna Andrews and was raised on the family farm near Wilcox. At the age of seventeen, she left home to teach at a one-room schoolhouse, eventually making her way to a school in Elk Water. A few years later, she married and gave birth to three sons.
She lived in Ontario and Saskatchewan before eventually settling in Lethbridge. After teaching for several years there, Marje accepted a position in Coaldale in 1967, where she remained until her retirement in 1990. She returned to Lethbridge the following year.
One of Marg’s passions was painting. She created many scenes of everyday life, and her home was filled with her artwork.
In her retirement, she traveled to several countries with friends and members of the United Church, of which she remained a devoted member. She also enjoyed gardening and spent many hours sitting on the grass, weeding and caring for her plants.
Marje spent her summers returning to the family farm in Saskatchewan, where she helped out and enjoyed visiting with friends and family.
Marjorie was a devoted mother who raised her family with hope and hard work, which was not always easy. She will be deeply missed. Marje, you can now rest peacefully.
Marjorie is survived by her sons Robert (Karen) and Michael; grandchildren, Billie (Darragh), and Gabriel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She is predeceased by her oldest son William.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
