Marie Gillies

MRS. MARIE EMMA SOPHIA GILLIES has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19, 2012. Marie was born on the family farm near Botha, Alberta to Fred and Mary Bruning on May 5, 1916. She was predeceased by her husband Ken, son Frank and her siblings Herman Bruning, Leola Groves and Cecilia Yauch and infant brother Donnie.

Marie leaves behind her son Steve (Marilyn) Gillies and their children Tobi (Myles Kasun) and Rod Gillies; daughter Cheryl (Bob) Crowe and their children Shelly (Cal) Jacober, Scott (Lana) Crowe; daughter-in-law Julie Weller and her children Cameron Gillies and Vickie (Mike) Osse; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend with a gentle spirit to all who knew her. She passed on her strong Christian faith to all of her family. She loved watching the Blue Jays baseball and was also a great curling fan. Marie was also known for her beautiful petit point and needlework pictures and knitted projects.

The family sincerely thanks the staff at the Extendicare Fairmont for the care given to Marie over the past few months, staff at the PARP, St. Michael's Care Facility, and the staff at the Blue Sky Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Salvation Army, 1811-2 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 2C9 or to a charity of your choice.

A Private Family Graveside Interment will be held at a later date.
